Vehicle rolls over after hitting retaining wall at Yale Drive in Airmont

A vehicle struck a low wall and rolled over near the Yale Drive/Cragmere Road intersection in Airmont Tuesday morning. Ramapo and Suffern police responded along with Hatzoloh EMS, Faist EMS, and two fire departments. The crash has renewed resident pressure on local officials to finish removing a nearby retaining wall that's reportedly been tied to multiple past accidents at the same intersection.

Power Restoration Continues After Weekend Thunderstorms in Rockland County

Severe thunderstorms and extreme heat over the weekend left over 42,000 Orange and Rockland Utilities customers without power. Emergency crews restored service to most customers, with remaining outages affecting Pomona, Clarkstown, Ramapo, and Orangetown as of early morning July 6.

Monsey Mourns Beloved Fire Chief Hugh (Chaim) Jacobson z"l

Hugh (Chaim) Jacobson, the longtime First Assistant Chief of Monsey Fire Department's Brewer Fire Engine Company No. 1, passed away at age 46 after an illness. Jacobson dedicated nearly 30 years to the volunteer fire department and was widely respected as a leader who prioritized firefighter safety and community service. Beyond his fire service, he was known as a dedicated Torah scholar, accomplished attorney and accountant, and for his extraordinary charitable work with his wife.
